Attendance at the Introductory Information Evening is important if you wish to do the Bereavement Support Education Programme. If you are offered a place on the programme, the fees below apply.

The course commences: on the Wednesday 13^th September for a total of 12 weeks using a hybrid model of online sessions and an in person personal development weekend.

Aim:    

The Bereavement Support Education Programme (BSEP) is a twelve-week course developed and designed over twenty years by the Social Work Department in Milford Care Centre. The course aims to offer insight and awareness into the issues and dynamics of grief and loss from death. This is done by exploring different aspects and types of bereavement. It provides information and education about bereavement in various circumstances; personal, social and cultural.

The course uses a combination of teaching methods and presentations including group work, lectures and personal exercises. A self-development weekend during the programme allows people to examine their own private grief journey in a safe and confidential environment and is a necessary component of the course.

This course will appeal to a wide variety of people in their private and professional lives; teachers, nurses, carers, clergy and pastoral ministers, counsellors, social workers and those who have contact and concern for the bereaved.

Note: We do not accept applicants within 2 years of a major loss.

Again to note: attendance at the information evening is important to gaining a place on the course and helps us with the planning and organising of resources.

Accreditation/CPD:  A certificate of attendance will be provided. 24 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) approved by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland). This BSEP programme has received endorsement for CPD activity by the Irish Association of Social Workers.
