Visiting Hours – General

  • We ask that the privacy of other patients is respected and ask that the number of visitors is limited to 2 or 3 at any one time. We have communal sitting areas available for family and friends
  • If you wish to have restricted visiting to allow you some quiet time, please speak to one of our nursing staff who will be happy to arrange this
  • Children are welcome to visit but we ask that they are supervised by an adult at all times
  • In most cases your pets are welcome to visit too. Please speak to your nursing or care staff to make arrangements for this
  • To avoid bringing infection into Milford, we kindly ask that people do not visit if they are suffering from colds, flu or any infection. Please speak to one of our nursing staff if you have any questions regarding this.

Visiting Hours – Nursing Home

  • We encourage visitors and have flexible visiting hours during the day
  • We respectfully request that visitors leave before 9.30pm in order to facilitate rest and sleep of our residents
  • Lunch and Tea in the dining rooms are reserved for residents only, so please do not visit during these times i.e. 12:15pm to 1:15pm and 4:30pm to 5.30pm

Visiting Hours – Hospice

  • Generally speaking there is no restriction to visiting hours, subject to the wishes of the patient and clinical requirements.

National Routes

  • Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) http://www.irishrail.ie/ and Bus Éireann buseireann.ie have a number of regional services running into Limerick City’s Railway Station
  • Dublin Coach dublincoach.ie travels between Dublin, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee and Killarney). It stops at the University of Limerick which is next door to Milford Care Centre
  • Eireagle eireagle.com runs a direct Dublin Airport – Limerick service which has a drop off point approximately 1.2 km or 20 minutes’ walk from the Centre
  • JJ Kavanagh & Sons jjkavanagh.ie runs a Shannon Airport – Limerick – Dublin Airport route that stops at the University of Limerick.

Parking

  • Parking is available on site for visitors to the Centre.

Restaurant

  • Visitors are welcome to visit the Restaurant which is open between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. It serves a range of hot and cold food and snacks.

Coffee Dock

  • There is a Coffee Dock near Reception with tea/coffee/water and snack vending machines.

Wi-Fi and Computers

  • Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the Centre. The password is available from Reception.
  • Skype access can also be facilitated for those who do not have their own device.
  • There are some computers available for use by patients or family members.

Church and Quiet Room

  • There is a church onsite which visitors are welcome to use. Mass is said daily at 11.30am and is available in patients’ rooms for those unable to attend.
  • The Hospice has a Quiet Room on the First Floor which is also available to visitors.

Family Rooms

  • There are sitting rooms reserved for family and patient use in the Hospice. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each of the four Day Rooms.
  • In certain circumstances it is possible for a family member to avail of one of the four family overnight bedrooms in the Hospice. Please contact the Clinical Nurse Manager on duty for further information.

Smoking

  • Visitors are not permitted to smoke within Milford Care Centre. There is a smoking shelter for visitors based outside the main entrance beside the Disabled Parking bays .
  • There are designated smoking rooms in the Nursing Home and Hospice for residents and patients only.

Flowers

  • Flowers for residents and patients are welcome at all times.

Shops/Garages

  • There are a few shops in the immediate vicinity, including a Spar and a pharmacy and shopping centres within a couple of kilometres (two on Childers Road and one on the Dublin Road)
  • There are several garages within a few kilometres as well.

  • The main banks (Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Bank and Ulster Bank) have offices in the area.
  • There is a Post Office in the Castletroy Shopping Centre.
